Owkin and Estonia will test AI research inside national health-data systems
Owkin and Estonia's applied research center Metrosert announced an evaluation of K Pro within secure national infrastructure. The first phase will use selected health-data groups and explore research areas including oncology.
Why it matters: The collaboration tests whether AI research can work within national data controls. It is an evaluation plan, so useful evidence will come from repeatable analyses and the research produced.
Sanofi signs a five-year licence for Owkin's K Pro and asks for AI agents built for its own teams
Owkin announced on 5 June 2026 a five-year licence with Sanofi for K Pro, the product Owkin calls its AI Scientist, together with work to build what it describes as next-generation biopharma agents purpose-built for Sanofi. Owkin says the agents are meant to act as assistants that carry out complex tasks in drug research and development on their own, across the span from early discovery through clinical development, and to support competitive intelligence and decision-making. The announcement discloses no financial terms. Thomas Clozel, Owkin's co-founder and chief executive, is quoted saying that building on the existing collaboration with Sanofi marks a shift toward truly embedded AI. Emmanuel Frenehard, Sanofi's chief digital officer, is quoted saying that putting purpose-built agentic systems into the company's workflows is meant to let its teams work with greater speed, depth and confidence.
Why it matters: The length is the signal. A five-year licence has to survive budget reviews and a change of leadership, which a one-year pilot does not, so Sanofi has committed to living with this software rather than testing it. Two things are worth holding at arm's length. No money was disclosed, so the term tells you about intent and not about scale. And the word autonomous is doing a lot of work: an agent that writes a research summary without being asked is useful, while an agent that prioritises which molecule to pursue is a decision, and the announcement does not separate the two. Note also that Sanofi's chief digital officer is the named executive rather than a research leader, which suggests this started as a digital programme.
Careers and Qualifications
What to Know Before Applying
Work areas: Biomedical research teams work with AI and software engineers. Clinical partnerships connect the work with hospitals and drug developers.
Qualification signal: Biomedical roles need training that fits the research. Technical work benefits from evidence that analyses can be reproduced on complex health data.

No clearance is linked in this directory. That is not automatically a mark against the company. Some products support the people doing the work instead of reading a patient image or signal themselves.
