If you want public-market exposure to healthcare AI, first separate three different relationships. A company may have its own listed stock, sit inside a public parent, or remain private. Buying the parent is not the same as buying the healthcare AI business, and a company announcement is not proof that AI drives the issuer's value.

As of 24 October 2026, 131 different companies hold at least one FDA clearance for an AI product in US healthcare, across 301 cleared products. 74 of those companies hold exactly one. The most recent clearance in the directory landed on 9 October 2026. You can see every one of them in the FDA-cleared directory.

An exact-name match between the federal clearance record and a stock register is a useful warning test, not a public-company count. Products can be filed under subsidiaries, acquired businesses, prior names, and national entities. The market layer therefore uses verified company and parent relationships instead of guessing from a name match.

Why the Two Lists Barely Touch

Three ordinary corporate facts pull product records and stock records apart.

  1. Products can use an older or subsidiary name. RapidAI clearances sit under iSchemaView, its earlier corporate name. A large group may file through a national subsidiary, so the issuer name never appears on the product record.
  2. A public parent can own the business. DeepHealth is part of RadNet, Nuance is part of Microsoft, and Isomorphic Labs is part of Alphabet. Each parent has many other businesses, so its stock is not direct exposure to the directory company.
  3. Many focused companies remain private. Private status says nothing about product quality or future value. It tells you that no current public listing was verified for that company. The live directory counter links to the profiles behind the current total.

What an AI Healthcare ETF Actually Holds

The label is looser than it sounds. A fund sold on healthcare AI generally holds large, established healthcare and technology companies where AI is one product line among many, because those are the companies liquid enough for a fund to hold.

That is not a criticism of the funds. It is a description of what is available to buy. But it does mean the exposure you get is mostly to big healthcare businesses that also do AI, rather than to the cleared-product companies in the table above.

A Better Question Than Which Stock

If you are trying to understand this market rather than trade it, the clearance record is the most honest scoreboard available. It shows who got something through a regulator, what that product is permitted to claim, and when. It is slow, it is public, and nobody can spin it.

Start with the company directory for ownership and stock identity, the company news desk for dated developments, the cleared directory to see who holds what, and the economic evidence report for whether any of it is paying for itself yet.
